All About The Icebreakers

The Icebreakers Group originated from a dare in 1981 with three CB enthusiasts with the appropriate handles "Melba Toast", "Channel Swimmer" and "Posh John", the dip on that day raised money and gave them the enthusaism with the co-operation of families and friends to make this an annual event.

The event has grown to more than 200 dippers taking part each year and it attracts tourists and visitors dipping from Australia, New Zealand, Sinagpore, Greece and our neighbours from across the waters in France, some competitors have even used the dip as preperation before they take on the Channel Swim!

With four generations of families from the original dip now taking part, you could say this madness is now in their blood, dippers young and old now take part which embodies the message of raising money for local good causes at Christmas is good for everyone giving and receiving with our emblem of the handshake signifying the day of the first challenge.
